Ok so i have a 1994 toyota pickup with 4wd the motor is a 22re, i have been having oil leaks for a while now, but its getting worse lately and i though it might be the oil pan so i replaced the gasket there, no luck. ive already tired to degrease it and look for one but i cant find it, after a week the thing is covered in oil from the middle down, the top is clean no oil what so ever. Im also having a problem with coolant but thats not so bad i usually have to refill every 3 months but that could be just evaporation or something, any clues or possible things that are usuallly wrong that anyone knows?

head gasket leaking oil? coolant doesn't really evaporate. it either leaks out or gets burned in the cylinders. clean the engine, drive it for a day and check to see where it's coming from

check front and rear main seals, neither is very easy to check. Also when you replace the gasket, did you also pull the seperator plate for the suck tube and seal it too? it goes between the block and the oil pan.

i heard there is a way to check your head gasket, but i dont know how ive been hearing alot about it but wanted to make sure before i do that.

Is the filter screwed on tight?

yes that filter is deff on there tight enough

my 86 22re had a nasty oil leak in the front, always fouled the front plug. isnt there an oil pump somewhere on the front of the 22re motor? i never did locate the leak, ended up moving that runner.

ok been awhile since i was last on guys, i changed out my oil pan gasket it didnt do much, im thinking its the O ring on the oil pump, if im not mistaken its driven by the pulleys in the front of the engine right? cause i see some oil coming from the bottom of that and it probably is whats spraying it on my engine so quickly. ill wondering will i have to drain the oil to replace that too if so ill have to wait till my oils low again.

I just replaced that exact same seal, it's easy as pie! Run to your local NAPA auto parts and tell them you need a front main seal for your motor. It will come in a kit with some other gaskets, one of which is the oil pump gasket/seal (it's rubber) and there is a "speedy sleave" that comes in that kit just in case there is a groove. Get a puller for the pulley also while you are there.

You won't have to drain the oil to get this done.

It took me all of about 1 1/2 hours to do and once you get into it you'll see how easy it is.
