Oil and alternator lights come on together while driving.
I have recently got my 1992 PIckup back up and running. On occasion I get the red alternator and oil idiot lights illuminating then turning off. They only stay on a few seconds at time then go off. Today it happened several times. Also the other day the truck would start, then suddenly shut off. There was no warning when this happened. I ended up having to drive another vehicle. I got home and the truck cranked right up, this was last week. I started by checking the battery, all connections clean, I have replaced the negative cable earlier and properly grounded to passenger panel, it is not loose. I am not sure what this is and I was curious if anyone had any ideas. Thanks.

When you get it started take a multimeter to the battery. It should be charging around 14.2. Might be time to get your alternator checked out. There is a local company here in salt lake city utah that rebuilds them. I took mine to him and he said there was no problems. I asked him to take it apart and check it out. Most of the alternators are made elsewhere. Found that out when he told me the stator inside my alternator was glued in, not soldered like it was supposed to be. So my alternator was rebuilt and I no longer have a problem with lights coming on my dashboard like that.

Well it appears the problem was a loose belt. This issue has been gone for a while. Wife said she saw it but I drive it daily and no issues.
I did locate a company in town that rebuilds alternators. I will probably do that if the problem returns.
Thanks for the responses guys.
