Oil in 22RE intake manifold!?!
What the hell does this mean? Oil is puddled in all 4 intake tubes on the lower intake. The last time I drove it, it would studder when I'd give it more than half throttle. Any pointers would help, thx!

Means you're sucking in oil from the PCV and breather lines on the valve cover. That means blow by is getting into the combustion chambers and extinguishing a better part of your fire power. And, probably collecting on the plugs. Your intake plenum may also be clogged up.

You could try that....see what happens. If your not successful, you may need new rings......probably valve seals, too. That's a lot of blow by your getting.

Perhaps you rolled your truck and didn't notice?
Pull the valve cover instead of trying to remove the PVC valve with the valve cover on the engine. In all likelyhood, the thing will be cooked on pretty good and I had to cut the rubber grommet into peices then set it on fire to get it out. Its was really stuck in there because the rubber turned to something with the consistency of hard plastic.

I already pulled the valve cover and it came off easy. I sure hope it's not blown. I'm tearing into it cause of a blown head gasket. It was getting hot in the winter and after replacing the whole cooling system, I figured it's gotta be the head gasket.

If your PVC was shot, your engine would run bad first of (worn PCV valve= vacuum leak). Oil could also leak out and into the manifold.
Replace the PCV valve, then see how it is, I would assume a rebuilt is in order just yet.
I'm serious about burning that bugger out. Its not easy.

Thx guys, I'm gonna just replace the pcv valve and see what happens. The engine had good compression and didn't smoke so I don't think it's the rings. I'm not sure of the mileage cause the po replaced the engine with another used one and they threw is what they said was the odometer from the other truck which reads about 92,000 now. I'll keep you all posted on this.

When was the last time you checked the oil ?, its not by any chance over filled with oil is it ?, that could cause excess blow by and it would get sucked into the intake.

and remember, only put the reccomended amount of oil in, a car came in that was hydrolocked with oil. reason? woman put 25 qts of oil in the engine, (cuz it was too low, she couldnt see it from the place where you put the oil) (her words).

But def just try replacing that PCV valve first... after double checking your oil level...

Ha Ha funny. I'm not a woman! What I do is throw a V-8 sized oil filter on it and fill it up with 5qts. It's an old trick that I learned from an old guy that's the original owner of 2 trucks,....an '92 with 365,000mi., and a '87 that hit 489,000mi. Either of them ever required any bottom end work. It all works out. The dip stick reads right at the full line.

Good news. Well.... kinda. I got the head off and it was obviously a blown head gasket. Coolant was in the 3 rear cylinders. My question is, could exhaust gasses leak thru the blown gasket and go into the oil journals to cause a rise in the crank case pressure and throw oil into the intake??
