OEM Plus Parts

Looking on this forum, I have found out that my 1990 standard cab pickup is a base model 22RE. I purchased a clock off of eBay and I'm hooked on adding all the OEM parts that were left off my pickup at the factory. I have been looking on this site for a few days afound a couple parts that I need.

1. Lighted glove box
2. Lighted 12V power outlet (how do I identify this)
3. 4Runner rearview mirror with map lights

What other Toyota parts am I missing?

my steering column has a little light to see where you are putting the key.

Also you don't have a tachometer, get an sr5 gauge cluster.

The lighted cig lighter has the green ring around it,and ashtray light since it's all in one hooked to one connector from a 4-Runner, I did a write up on my thread on doing the wiring...

Look again on my thread because I just got done adding a tilt column with intermittent wipers and did a full gauge cluster swap, you'll have to find one that has the speedo cable connector, and if you do that don't forget to change out the small idiot light sender to the huge pressure gauge sending unit (or you'll toast the gauge) and be sure you get the right year sender, get from dealer there around 55 bucks and give them your vin so they'll get you the right one with the right connector, there are 2 different connectors, I have pics of of both type connectors on my thread, another mod is getting same color interior above your head on driver and passenger side grab handles from an SR-5 truck or 4-Runners, you have the captive nuts already there to add handles if you don't have any, read my thread and enjoy, if you have any questions feel free to ask me on my build thread...

I actually do have a full cluster in the pickup. (Tach/Speedo + 4 gauges)
Kind of weird. Maybe the only option on the truck.

Also with the lighted glove box and 12V outlet, do they have the wiring looming in the dash so it is plug and play like the clock?

Scored at the local junk yard. Just a few question
1. Lighted glove box
(Got the new glove box with switch and light). How do you wire this in?
2. Lighted 12V power outlet
This is till attached to the 4Runner plastic. How do I remove this?
3. 4Runner rearview mirror with map lights

check out my build at post 95 and see how I wired my lighted cig/ash tray, which is now a power port, and just wire in the lighted GB to same wires as the above lighted parts :} Good Luck :}

X2 on the SR5 cluster. I slapped a cluster from a 94 4runnner in my 89 pickup, with no mods. Plugs and screw holes all the same. Wiring had everything it already needed to run the tach. Only thing it didn't have is the oil pressure gauge, cause the original cluster just had an oil light, it just reads low when its good and high if its bad. Suppose you could switch out the pressure switch for a pressure sensor. But Temp, fuel, alt. All good.

P.S. Also noticed that on some of the 95 runners in the junk yard, had electronic speedo instead of cable, on the same instrument cluster. Had to steer clear of that obviously. Mabye its ABS and non ABS not sure.

Oh wow, sorry for assuming. My last truck, base model, didn't have anything. Come to think of it, may not have even had a dome light...

New question! How do you get the 4Runner 12V outlet out of the original trim? the original trim is damaged and cracked. I do not want to break the 12V outlet.

That thin round piece at the bottom is a finger type tightening connector (it has bumps all around it) and is threaded on the inside and the hollow shaft has threads on the outside, so turn it to the left it'll unscrew and then the smooth main body slides off the inside hollow shaft, take off/pull off the red wire connector 1st to take the thing apart. Easy Peasy!!!!

Got all the upgraded pieces in. The glove box that I got has a lock on it. What kind of key opens it? I am thinking the ignition key since it opens everything. Can I get a locksmith to get this key to fit my ignition key?

In addition, to what every members have said, I have done following:

1) 2nd Gen 4runner rear heater fan switch - used the switch to activate my electric fans...I like the oem white writing on the fan switch

2) First Gen Deluxe Toyota Van - I used their fog light switch to activate my foglights....similar shape but van mounts it vertical and I mount it horizontal

3) lexus es300 or ls400...used their homelink system; tear apart from their sunvisor and mounted under cubby hole below my radio

4) 84-87 Toyota Celica Supra - use their center console light switch apparatus and remounted in my center console using velcro

pretty much anything Toyota at junkyard I find a way to use in similar fashion to fit my 88 4runner!

The warning light sender will burn out the guage. You should probably swap it out. Maybe you'll get lucky and it wont already be too late.

I think the electronic speedos were just the 92-94 models.

Its been in there for about 2 years now. Gauge reads (high) with the key on and the engine off. Then with the engine running the gauge reads (low) because there is oil pressure, thats how I know its still working. I think both setups deal with 12v input to the gauge or light. Except the gauge is variable resistance, and is probably at or above a 12v input when its pegged.
