Here is something I found while researching the topic several years ago. I stumbled on it again just now from a signature on a .pdf schematic I had saved. Fortunately some of the pages have an English version:

Not really in-depth, but that's the most information I've ever found in one place. Making PCBs is fairly easy with a laser printer and magazine pages...

This ATS was a popular upgrade among the 1991-1995 (OBDI) MR2 turbo crowd. I'm sure if they can tune the 3sgte ecu, the 3vze ecu doesn't require anymore magic.
They sell mail order tunes which are controversial because everyones engine can be slightly different, so the tuning won't be as good as going to their shop and actually getting on the dyno.
The 3vze isn't exactly a popular motor to upgrade so its not a surprise not many shops tune the 3vze... the 3vzfe is a different story, thats more popular.

Sorry to (I know, I know, this thread is like 6 years old) but I was looking for pretty much the same thing for an '86 22RE. Turns out I don't have any of the diagnostic connectors other than shorty mcshortface to get engine blinks, but I thought it might be relevant to mention that I think the russian software scope103 mentioned is this: http://primavistalab.com/myengine/
I'm looking for other options to get the serial data but I don't think my ECU offers it. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them out. I think my best bet is to just get a patch braid and sniff the data from it.

The ecu does provide some data. Its limited but its there. It will show things like coolant temp, speed, rpm, throttle position, fuel trims, ignition advance, egr actions, o2 data, and I think air flow was in there too. There's some more too just not much. You can also check and clear codes and even control diagnostic mode. I used a Snap-on Modis scantool. I'm sure there are other tools out there that can read the data but surely none of them are very cheap.

This should be on the left inner fender, you're saying you don't have any of these?
You're going to have to do a lot of work to get what you want. Hope you have a stash of ECU boxes that match your original.
I'll throw you a bone. The CPU chipset used in these 80's era computers have some data sheets available still, it's an old eight bit chip. The maker slips my mind at the moment, I want to say Hitachi, poke around for my posts about the cruise control computer. There was also some work done by the mr2/celica guys and you can get some firmware dumps if your willing to-do the work. You do know assembly language I hope or you've got a long windy road ahead, but it's a good learning experience.

I already have code to read the toyota datastream that comes over TE2 pin from the ECU. Problem is, I don't have TE2 unless it's in that bundle. If it is, I don't know which wire it is and I'm starting to glaze over reading the FSM. I found some links to the datasheets on the CPU/ECU but they were all dead. I'll see if the posts you made were the ones I was checking...
Since my final goal is to build a black box and new dash cluster and not really "just get the data" I went ahead and started a new thread...

Right ok, I agree with you. My point is: until the "diagnostic box" appeared, it seems that there is no "data stream" to speak of. The goal of this thread is to locate that data stream, and my personal goal is to locate that data stream on an '86.
