O2 Sensor Replaced for Free?

I have a 92' 4runner 3vze. I was reading in the owners manual that when the O2 sensor is malfunctioning you should bring the vehicle back to the dealer for replacement for free. Has anyone else done this? I just bought a new one then read this so I haven't installed it yet. Anyone? Thanks.

Oxygen sensor

Replace the oxygen sensor when scheduled. Your Toyota dealer will make this replacement (parts and labor) at no cost to you.

i heard about this about a year ago and folks were saying that Toyota no longer honored the warranty. Still might as well go to the dealer and check it out.

Sure enough it's there, only it's on page 158 on 90 model.

Imagine:

All over the US a dozen or so people rushed out to their trucks to read the manual.

well I guess I'm not the only one who is reading this...it's on page 160 in the 92' OM. Maybe I'll call Toyota Corporate tomorrow and see what they say..I started this thread at work w/o the OM...does say "when scheduled" not "when malfunctioning"...I guess I'll find out..

Yep, I saw that too when I bought my '94 (used). It already had too many miles so I didn't bother taking it in. I'd be interested to find out if any high-mileage trucks get this handled for free.

Hehe, funny. I just replaced the O2 sensor today, along with the cat, and swapped the exhaust manifold out for a Thorley header.

Wished I had known this sooner. Might have saved me the wait of shipping from sparkplugs.com
