o2 sensor

so today i was going to pull out my o2 sonsor and clean it, but i have a problem: I cant get the damn thing out!! the bolts are all twisted (like someone tried it before to no avail) its rusted to hell, and to top it all off, the place i had do my exhaust work had to cut a new hole in my pipe and re-weld my o2 sensor back in; but lets just say he was a little welder happy and went to town on it.

I am now planning on replacing the whole o2 sensor as opposed to just cleaning it ... no telling what kinda of damage the heat from the welder did to my sensor. My only question is, how do i go about doing it?? i am thinking i will just go to a muffler shop or something, have them cut out a small section off where the o2 sensor is, replace the section with a NEW one that has a hole cut out for a NEW o2 sensor, and re-weld it in. does this seem like the logical route to go? or is there something easier that i might be able to do in my driveway?? (i dont weld)

if ithas to be welded get a aftermarket one that screws into the 2 bolt flange, then u can still replace it in the future by unsrewing it.i think the bosch one is set up like this.

well yeah thats how mine is. two bolts that can be removed to access the o2 sensor. are there other o2 sensors that are different than this? seems dumb not to get one that can be removed inplace of another one.

I think the general consensus is NOT to use a Bosch O2 Sensor, even tho 'some' claim to have had success with them. Many others say they only last a few months and go bad, again. Get the Denso unit.

yeah... the denso unit was what i was planning on getting. thats what everyone on this site has recommended. seems like our toyota's do not see eye to eye with NON-OEM products. just like the bosch plugs i put in a couple weeks ago, come to find out that everyone here voted against that move. thats next weekends project; new plugs, maybe wires too.

Be prepared for a shocker on the price of OEM Plug Wires from the Dealer. Just replaced mine two weeks ago. Cost me a C-Note, but it 'did' help the rough idle. The non-OEM wires I put on last September were ohming-out at over 25 Ohms. That's about twice what the recommended max ohm rating is supposed to be.

sparkplugs.com has them for cheaper than dealer price.
I drop down menued to my truck and selected o2 sensor, as the page comes up with spark plugs first, but here it is.
you can choose NGK or Denso
Here is Denso for my 22RE
