O/D Off light

So I have a 92 runner with auto trans. I just got it on the road and everything was good but now all of a sudden the OD Off light will not go off? It has been cold here for a few days. Does the light come on until the temperature is high enough to allow OD to go on? When I push the button nothing happends. My wife noticed it so I have not drove it far enough to get the trans warm yet but don't know if that is how it works.

I read info on the light and it will flash when there is a problem but I do not have that, just won't go off like it did before when I pushed the button.
Any help or into on this light?

When the vehicle is warmed up does it go into OD? That light should not be on when the switch is pressed in. Like you said a tranny trouble code should cause a flahing light, not steady. Maybe a switch problem, especially if it does not go into OD. Another condition that will cause that light to come on is low voltage. But then you would have a batt light and probably a check engine light as well. (my OD light came on when I snapped an alternator belt)

I was reading some other stuff and to check the light operation all I have to do is turn the switch on and off and the light should do the same no matter the temperature. I guess I have a short in the switch or something. I will check today and see if it goes into overdrive.

I found the problem. I wiggled the terminals on the back of the switch and the light started working right.

So do I but this is my wifes truck and she would not look for it shifting while driving, I would just get "why is the truck using so much gas". So the light must work..............
