Is this normal 22RE operating temp?

Hey guys,
I just drove my 87 4runner from the SF Bay Area to Portland OR and back a couple weeks ago. Ran great, though was pretty embarassed on the passes coming down I-5 (we were loaded with camping gear).
Anyway....I installed a SportComp set of gauages at Christmas, including coolant. I have the sender mounted to the top radiator hose with an adapter from Glowshift. I also have the SR5 gauges, so my coolant level was reading the "middle" the whole trip.
I'm neurotic about my cooling system, as I had a close call last spring that I've since fixed (fingers crossed)...been running fine since.
Around town and with my 35 mile each way commute, the temp stays around 180, sometimes creeping up to 195 - but never higher.
On this trip, it stayed at 195, and moved up to 210 (but never over that - I checked every couple minutes....).
Is this normal to run this hot? Is there a reason it's just now running hot on a long road trip, versus my usual daily use?
Anything to be worried about, as long as it stays at 210 or lower?
Thanks

The stock sensor is in the lower intake manifold, in between two of the intake runners where It bolts to the head. Not the thermostat housing.
The 22rte tstat housing I have has two, one for the ac to turn it off if it gets too hot(I believe came with the towing package) the other is for the fuel pressure up circuit. It deals with warm starts/heat soak etc.
I have my autometer sensor in the stock location as the stock one was not working correctly.
It typically reads about 185-200 but has made a couple trips up to 210 on super long steep hills. I have a new radiator/tstat and the whole system is flushed and clean.
210 is really not a concern.

That's a good point SCToy on the oil sender mounting location. I have a sanswich plate right now....someday I'll run a line off to the side of the engine bay
FWIW, my OEM sender (on the block) still works 9 years after I bought the truck (and now has 69,000 more miles on it).

thanks jeetS. I thought so but wasn't sure. So one is saying the sensor comes off the housing another says out of the lower intake manifold. I guess it depends on the year maybe? I can't remember what 92 Toy's is off hand.

JeetS - I'm confused on the T Stat housing/sender location. Thought for years that it was here:
(the red painted housing with the brass colored sender screwed in)....if that's not the coolant temp sender, what IS it??
ZUK - my OEM SR5 gauge has been in "the middle" the whole time - that guy's not creeping. And the Autometer gauge went to 195 for the first part of the drive up (mnostly 101N and flat), and then the rest of the trip back (south on I5, lots of long hills), it was at 210....never hotter than that, and I checked every minute, trust me!).

Now that I think about it, there are two temp sensors maybe even 3 on the 22re, one is for the gauge the other is for the ECU. And maybe even one more as a switch rather then a sensor.

Mine runs at about 190 all the time. Gets a bit higher untill it squirts. I havent taken it for a long trip with the new gauges yet.
I thought 190 was a bit on the cool side. :/

ZUK - (assuming that is where the OEM sensor indeed is) - my in-line sensor is fine for my aftermarket gauges, but I just don't like the idea of having my hose cut in half and worrying about 2 extra areas that may leak (this happened when I first installed it but I tightened them down more and it's been fine).
I just want to know if that is in fact the OEM sender location (87 22RE California model), and then also, if my temps are normal for road trips versus around town and general commute driving.

Lol disconnecting it isn't a surefire way...about half the time my temp gauge reads normal, other times it reads right at the bottom and then every now and again it bounces around wildly and even stays pegged at the red.
And all this while its unplugged! I think the times it goes crazy is when the plug grounds against the lower plenum lol
The sensor in the lower plenum is for the gauge.
The green one by the IACV(below the tstat housing) is for the ECU(efi temp sensor) t
The brown one beside that is the CSI time switch.
There are sometimes two in the thermostat housing. The one with the larger plug is for the Fuel Pressure Up (temp switch no.2)
The other smaller one with a spade connector is ac related and was part of the towing package(possibly only on 22rte)
