Is this normal??
I am chasing down a vibration and was wondering if this is normal, the steering rack I guess you call it right in back of the upper control arm there is some movement in it ,is that normal or is that the problem ,can someone go and shake thier steering rack above the UCA and see if it moves Thank you for your time

what I don't get is there's nothing "above" the UCA...
now if it is in fact the pitman arm's ball that you're reffering too, number one, that's kinda in between the UCA and the LCA... number two, if that's what's got movement, it's a one part fix!

there shouldn't be any play in the steering column. there should be a fiber disc in the bottom joint on the column.

it's an online copy of a 1993 factory service manual. a lot of it is applicable to other years as well.

i think he is referring to the 'rag joint' in the steering column and, no, there shouldnt be any play in that. www.4crawler.com has some good tech info regarding that item, search it out.
