noob-mounting bracket/water pump/t-belt/e-fan install
Hey all, hows it going? Noob here doing an installation and want to say thanks for all the helpful posts so far. I am driving an '88 4runner (manual) with the trusty and reliable 3vze lol (only 150,000 mi). I have a few mods (K&N intake, 6 inch lift, 35's) and am looking to install an e-fan in place of the stock unit assembly which was almost ripped off. I was driving down the road when it began shaking and wobbling, making a terrible grinding noise at times. Anyway, I pulled out the fan, shroud, radiator, belts, and the fan mounting/pulley bracket and found that the bearing was completely shot. Some shrapnel ended up inside the timing cover, so while back there I am going to replace my timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and replace the stock fan with either a Taurus/MarkVIII or flex-a-lite 180. However, due to the blown bearing, I need a new bracket. I've read some posts about modifying-machining the pulley bracket and getting rid of the pulleys. What is the best, most efficient and cheapest method for me to replace my mounting bracket, water pump and t-belt, with the installation of an e-fan? On that note, what is the best option for the e-fan – a Taurus fan, MarkVIII or the ridiculously expensive Flex-a-lite 180?
