noise when releasing the clutch

First off I have a 92 pickup, 3L 5speed.
When I release the clutch I get a squealing noise(kind of like a belt squeal but more metallic sounding).
Only during engagement, when the clutch is out fully it is perfectly quiet.
Also when driving and I match revs perfectly between gears no noise either. It seems only if their is different rpm loads placed on the clutch.

I was told it was inside the transmission, that seems kind of odd to me since it does not do it all the time.

If anyone has any ideas that would be super helpful.

Thanks,

-Eric

My guess would be throw out bearing or pilot bearing.

x3 that's basically what mine did too. My throw out bearing chattered when it was being let out or had some kind of load on it and sure enough when i took it out today, it was pretty loose.

Mine is doing something similar. When I let off the clutch in 3rd or 4th gear I hear a metallic chattering noise, especially when I let off the gas too. Throwout bearing?

Actually, the noise seems to be coming from further back, like the drive shaft or rear differential.

When any of your throwout bearings went, did you get vibration?

I have the same thing going on. My truck sat in the driveway for 7 years. I put a new motor and the noise was there. I did not replace the TOB. I have a feeling that might of been my worst mistake.
