No power windows, mirrors or locks...???
Cruising thru a parking lot and all of a sudden the engine/battery light comes on (engine still running), the tach needle goes through the roof (without increased RPMs) and now I don't have power to any windows, locks or mirrors.
All the fuses appear to be good and the "Power CB" relay, which I think runs the windows, has good continuty. No burned smell, lights and gauges still work. Am I missing something? Already serached and no one seems to have this combination of power loss. Usually just the rear window.

Monument to my own stupidity !!!!!
Fixed. After an hour of tinkering around with fuses and relays and what-not, I discovered the problem. While I was under the dash, my mag=-lite kept hitting me (mounted on the left side of the driver seat). i noticed that the clip was not very secure any longer so I decided to remove it and find it a new home after I fixed the window problem.
When I took it out, one of the screws was all black and very hot.
Decide at that point to take up the carpet and have a look at what was underneath. It was at this point I realized that when I first mounted the holder, I appearently went through the wire bundle that runs along the side. Opened the bundle and found that 4 of the wires were charred and melted and SHORTING. :pat:
It just so happens that these 4 wires ran into the passenger side door (locks and window) After repairing the wires and resetting the "power cb"...gues freakin' what...everything worked fine again. Surprising it took so long to actually see results from drilling through those wires.
I mounted that mag-lite about 3 years ago, I think that was my first newby mod. Since then I have done much and learned a lot, assuming having shed the newby status. Just goes to show there's always time for making dumb mistakes.
LESSON LEARNED. Always check to see what yer drilling through before actually doing it. Time for
