No more ghetto exhaust

FINALLY got a day off...so off to the garage with the box of goodies from the parts store. Got tired of the ghetto sound of my (has to be original) exhaust manifold noise.

I've had the rig since August, and while I really dislike wrenching in the cold, I had to swap exhaust manifolds today. The new kit came with manifold, exhaust and flange gaskets, heat shield, and all new hardware.

Removal of the old manifold was pretty straighforward, with only one of the manifold to downpipe studs cheesing. No matter, since the manifold was both cracked AND warped, I knew reusing it wasn't going to happen. PB Blaster, wait 30 minutes, and off we go.

Best part was all the new shiny pieces, and a pretty easy install. I had to modify the opening for the O2 sensor just a bit, as the Bosch model I was using had a bit of a lip on the head of the sensor, that required a bit of work with the die grinder, and fit like a champ.

Buttoned everything up in about an hour, and was amazed at how quiet the rig is. The whole kit was $83 at Autozone, and fit well with the exception of the O2 sensor hole, which was remedied in about 5 minutes with the grinder. Another benefit was the addition of the heat shield, which mine didn't come with...
