No heat after heater core replacement

I just put on a new head gasket 2 weeks ago, and had to change the heater core as it was leaking inside the truck, so today I get the new core in, refill the coolant, let it burp, warms up and I still dont have hot heat. It is luke warm. The water pipes going into the core from the engine are hot, but no hot air, any help would be nice,

Truck ran for 40 minutes and no coolant leaks anywhere.

x2 The heater valve often gets build up in it and becomes plugged. A little cleaning and some wd 40 should do the trick

I would guess you still have air in there. Drain the coolant about 1/2 way. Then remove the hose from the actual heater valve and do two things:

1. Inspect the valve, make sure its operating correctly.
2. If so, fill the coolant WITH THE HOSE OFF until it comes pouring out the hose. Reattach the hose, fill the system the rest of the way, and you should have no air bubbles left.

If you don't do it like that, and the system doesn't get ALL the air out (its often trapped in the heater core) it will only blow luke warm. If should be SO hot, you can't hold you hand in front of it for very long on full blast.

I suppose the heater valve is the little two inlet black box in between the right water hose when looking from in front of the truck. Can I just disconnect the pipes and take it off or will that be to much trouble? Should I just go get another one? Also, there is a panel inside the heater core housing that you can open, like a door, and see the heater core. Well, I think I forgot to close that little panel back on the core so would that have anything to do with no heat? I could just take the duct under the passenger side dash off and close it back, let me know. Thanks for the help.
