Hello I'm pretty new to these trucks. Just lookin for some help. I have an 89 toyota pickup with the 3.0 V6 and it has no heat even though the heater core is hooked up. I'm hella confused. I was feeling around on the hoses going to the heater core one is really hot and the other one is likw luke warm so it might have a clog in it or something. Does anyone haveany help for me please.

Both of the hoses should be pretty hot, especially if the heater fan is not on high. There is a shutoff valve for the heater hoses in the engine compartent. A cable attaches to it from the heater temperature selector. Make sure this cable is operating to open the valve to allow coolant into the heater core.

If that works ok, you could have a blocked heater core (your radiator would probably be looking nasty as well). Or simply a stuck flapper valve preventing hot air from going to the vents.

Ok thanks man. Yeah I just actually replaced the radiator last night so that's new. Could you d you tell me exactly where that shutoff valve is?

sounds like you may have air pocket in the system..

On the heater hose next to the firewall. Look at the heater hoses and you will see a plastic device on one of them. There is a cable attached to this device that runs to the heater temp control.

You may have to burp your system. Try parking on a steep hill and filling up the rad. This will help the fluid go past the neck. There are good instructions on the site if you search for "burp".

It sounds like the heater core isn't getting enough coolant. Do like jkdunbar said and try burping it
