I have a 91SR5 with the V6 Auto. I am having the classiccold start issue. My cold start injector and the cold start timing switch areboth within “Ohms” according to the Haynes manual. I removed the Cold startinjector from the fuel line and discovered that the fuel line was bone dry. I don’tknow enough about how the fuel system works but I cranked the motor with thecold start injector removed from the fuel line and I did not see any fuel comeout of it (this is with the injector removed from the fuel line). I that saidam I correct to suspect that this problem is either the fuel line that runs fromthe fuel rail to the cold start injector or the fuel presser regulator? Any thoughts?

You are having "a" cold start issue. There are hundreds of varients.

I assume that once you can get it to start, it runs. (If it doesn't run at all that's a whole 'nother kettle o' fish.)

It's not the fuel pressure regulator; that's at the far end of the fuel rail long after the CSI line comes off. So it has to be a blocked line; the fuel rail is under pressure as soon as you turn the key, and with the line disconnected from the CSI fuel should be pouring out.

Your next steps will be (I'd say) to remove the plenum and remove the CSI line. It's short enough that you should be able to see through it.

REMEMBER that the crush washers are one-time-use. They're a dealer-only item, but they're cheaper than dirt. Stock up with a bunch of extras. You might think you can just tighten it until you don't see a leak, but the other end of that line is under the plenum where you won't see the leak until too late.

scope103, thank you for the quick response. Yes once the motor starts(1 or 2 tries warm weather and a lot more in cold) it runs wonderfully. I wasreally hoping that CSI line was not the problem. Removing the air plenum lookslike a lengthy job. When I have some fee time I'll go ahead a do it and post the results. Thanks again.
