Newbie with an electrical problem

I have an 86 Pickup that I just bought...not running need a HG. Did the HG. Now with all your help it runs great. The problem I'm having is the radio, clock and cig lighter are always on....not on switched power I checked the color codes and they match for being switched. Is it possible my ignition is bad? Also is there a trick to pulling the fuse panel on the kick panel?

It probably is your ignition cylinder, I don't know how to test it to be sure though. And when you say "pulling the fuse panel" do you mean pulling off the cover that covers the fuses or do you mean actually pulling off the fuse box from where its mounted?

It's the fuse box in the drivers side panel. I removed the bolt at the bottom and couldn't find one at the top of the box. I found one switched +12 in the box and was going to wire my radio to that. I don't think I'm skilled enough to replace the ignition cylinder.

I'm really not sure how to remove it then, I'll look at my '87 sometime later today. As for the ignition cylinder, it really isn't that hard. I can't tell you how to do it off the top of my head, but I'll look in my chilton manual and get back to you on that. You should invest in a manaul for your truck, unless you already have one. It explains a lot

Thanks for your help Guys. I found a plastic tab at the top of the fuse box. Was able to remove it and splice the radio into a switched circuit.
