New yota owner

Hello everyone, I am a new toyota owner and new to the site. So here is my story and problem...

My buddy has had an 88 toyota pick up for years, I have borrowed it and loved it. So I recently purchased one myself to use for some off roading and hunting. I bought an 88 with the 22 re 4 wd and 5 spd manual with 185,00 miles on it. After owning it for about a week I realized it does not have the power my buddies does and they are pretty much identical.

My truck has good torque and low end power in 1st and 2nd...but trying to get up to 55-60 mph and maintain that speed is super hard. Its almost like theres no power at all in 3 4 and 5...( I cant even use 5th really)

So far I have done the following:
Throttle position sensor ( and set it correctly)
Checked the timing
plugs
wires
dist cap
O2 sensor
Clutch
K and N air filter
Fuel filter
Checked for vacuum leaks

I am running out of options and wondering if anyone has had this problem or has ideas.

Thanks guys!!

What size tires? He may have different gearing. Compression test yet? My motor didn't smoke or use oil, it was just low on power, I had 2 cylinders that were way low on compression. Just ideas......

It does not stall or spit...I have 30 inch tires on it and I think it has 373 gears?

I will rent a comp tester....what should the cylinders be at when I test them?

Thanks
