New TPS reading wrong?
Ok I know there are a ton of tps threads on here all linking to 4crawler's site, and I thank 4crawler for the helpful info.
I just got a brand new tps for my 86 22re and I have the throttle body off and am trying to set the tps on a bench. When I test IDL-E2 with a .85mm gap, I cannot get the infinite setting on my DMM no matter how far either direction I turn the tps. Any ideas?

I just double checked the installation, and It seems there is only one correct way to install it. I mean I could flip it around backwards but the plug would then face toward the cab and I'm pretty certain it is supposed to face forward like the old one. I'll keep messin with it though in the meantime.

Yes I do see what you mean. 
But, I do have the tabs being grabbed by the throttle shaft and when I turn the tps I can feel the resistance of the spring from the tabs being grabbed. When I turn it slightly and purposely put it on wrong, I cannot line up the mounting bolts anyways.

Well I put the tps on the throttle body and installed it in the truck. Here's my readings.
VTA - E2 = .72 Closed
VTA - E2 = 4.97 WOT
IDL - E2 = .06 .57mm
IDL - E2 = .09 .85mm
I cannot get infinite at any position.

Are you sure you're testing the right terminals? If you're on the right ones, regardless if you're using guages, you should get infinite at some point when you pivot the throttle lever. Otherwise, the TPS is bad from the get go. Make sure you're testing the right terminals.

Are you sure you're testing the right terminals? If you're on the right ones, regardless if you're using guages, you should get infinite at some point when you pivot the throttle lever. Otherwise, the TPS is bad from the get go. Make sure you're testing the right terminals.
I figured that if I go from top to bottom while facing the terminals (tps installed on the tb) it should match up to the picture top to bottom right?
VCC
VTA
IDL
E2
In that order.
Is it possible that the terminals are swapped so VCC is on bottom and E2 is on top? I assumed they were all the same setup. Thx for the help so far guys

a little off topic, but has anyone ever taken an old TPS wire plugin off maybe a junkyard 22re and made it into a tool to probe the TPS a little easier... it's a pain when it's still on the truck... I just put my new one on my 91 today...

No, but that's not really the hard part. The hard part is getting bottom screw loose...getting past the t-stat housing.
Have you tried cutting small pieces of tube and sliding them on the terminals? I use aquarium pump tubing. You can just push the probes in the tube and test away.

and oh yeah, I lost my bottom screw today... so untill I get a new one to put on, I don't have to deal with the bottom screw, lol

If it's the small vac line from your 22re, it will be too fat to fit two tubes close together on the terminals. I know....I've tried it.

nah, it's some really tiny stuff I've had laying around; it's for like washer fluid sprayers or something, I dunno... it's tiny stuff... looks like it would work for it anyway...

So maybe I was just super tired last nite but this morning when I test IDL - V2 with it all installed on the truck, I can get Infinity when I move the throttle. Now I have to figure out how to loosen the bottom screw without pulling the throttle body off. It is still phillips head. I was going to switch it to allen screws but the threads on the ones I got did not match up. Any suggestions on loosening that bottom phillips without removing the TB?
