New TPS: I think I'm in love!

After doing a ton of repairs and upgrades to my truck, put the new tps from LC in today. It's running like a cheetah on crank!

The crapper is, I just recieved a great job offer in NYC, and will be moving there in 4 weeks. I had listed the truck on craigslist prior to doing new vacuum lines and tps with weekend, but now I'm halfway thinking about using it to commute from Brooklyn to Staten Island.

Thanks to all you guys and especially 4crawlers site for the troubleshooting and tps info. This forum is sick!

What sort of problems were you having that made you change it?

I couldn't set the timing correctly with the bad tps. When you jump the T and E1 terminals to bypass the electronic advance, there is no change in idle speed with a bad tps.

Other symptoms were a rough idle and poor gas mileage. I also had horrible acceleration, but I think that's a result of the timing being so off. BTW, the timing I had set with the bad tps was so far behind! Luckily I didn't need to drive the truck while I was waiting for the parts and time to do the install. The time I did spend driving it before was excruciating. It took forever to accelerate up to decent road speeds. I hope I didn't do any damage.

4crawlers writeup on the tps was an invaluable help, I'd check it out if you have concerns about yours:

Man - Brooklyn isnt as "budget" as it used to be.
At least its a reverse commute - you'll need the suspension for the BQE
