We were banging around on the suspension putting on a new lift kit on my 94 4-cyl and when we fired it up it had a transient clicking noise that sounded like it was coming from the alternator. Not while under load but at idle and just above idle, it disappears under load. This local mechanic guy said it was coming from inside the engine block which was hard to believe and, I believe it may be timing chain slap. My buddy says my timing chain mounts are worn down and could use replacing. I'm kind of at a loss. Anyone experienced this before?
