the new Toy (Unmolested 88' 4runner)

I just picked up a one owner unmolested 88' 4runner in mint condition with 97,000 miles. It was garge kept and owned by an older couple.

I would like some opinions on different manufactures of full soft tops and dash covers.

I have been looking at Soft Toppers, Sunbrella, and Can-back. Are there some other that I'm missing? What are you guys running? Which is the best quality? Can-back seem to be very expensive.

Also would like to protect the dash. Looking into a carpeted dash cover. What company do most of you run?

wow dude, if it's that clean, leave it unmolested. having it in that condition alone is awesome.

The top has never been removed. I'd at least like a dash cover to keep it from possible cracking. I will be getting some black steel rims and 31" Goodyear Duratracs.

Heck ya...I would love to find a 4runner that clean. Probably would have sold for $4-6k around here.

Just keep a UV protectant like armorall on the dash and you'll be fine.

Lots of dashes from that era cracked due to being overtightened. I'd just throw a towel over it if I had to park in direct sunlight.

I have a softtopper and love it. It's one of the few things in the world that is as advertised - ease of use, durability, quality of materials, etc. Not cheap either, but really well made.

I only have pics with the sides rolled up.

Granville-4crawler has a bunch of pics of his 4Runner with the softopper.com versions here.

Nice find!

EDIT - Look up 'no cut ZUK mod' to fix that saggy bottom

EDIT #2 - If you do decide to remove the hard top with the intention of putting it back on at some point, do yourself a favor and read up on the interlock switch and proper bolt. It matters and is not obvious, but the bolt over the interlock switch must be the correct one.

Dang dude what a find. The pics make me excited I can't imagine owning it. Yea keep it stock. And just my opinion I stay away from armor all I have used 303 protectant for years and I love it, another reason to stay away from high gloss armor all or like products is it puts humidity on your windshield when its hot out and it leaves a film like your a smoker. But again just my opinion. Dang man again incredible!!!!!

Toyotech559 - might I recommend the 'wedge' cupholder - about $5 at Oreilly's and it fits perfectly in the 1st gen door map pockets. I have 2 of 'em

Keep it stock imo, I have an un-molested 88 pickup granted its not in as good as shape as yours, but these things are hard to find un-molested these days.

Nice find.

I would bet the majority is due to high heat from exposure to the big round thing in the sky..

OP-nice score
