New rear shelf in my pickup.

I'm not sure how much stuff you guys usually throw on that little shelf in the back of the truck, but with my tool boxes, and a few jugs of fluid, there's a fair amount of weight up there. So much in fact, that my factory shelf collapsed in the center. I decided that rather than repair it, I would just build a new one. Took me an hour and a half from start to finish. It's made out of 3/4" MDF, and is extremely sturdy.

Loaded up with junk

The next step is going to be covering it with some carpet next time I can grab some from the junk yard. Let's see this one try to collapse on me!

Nice job....

I'm looking at doing the same in an x-cab for the dogs, storage underneath, seats removed, you kept yours in yes??

W/ the back seats out the hinges should be the same height as a center console.... When I find THE ONE, Toyota sienna (SP?) looks good.

Either way nice looking set up, lowes has some nice I/O carpeting, better than depots and the local stores do order out service :cry

Repo

I don't believe pre 89 trucks ever came with rear seats. I've never seen any.

The hi-lift just sits on the floor actually. Eventually I'll get some mounting brackets for it.
