New to me 88 xtracab

Hey y'all,

Picked up another Toyota, my thoughts were to use it as parts for my other project that I haven't had time to mess with.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...om-cab-188822/

This extracab was a one family truck. Snagged it off of craigs list only 3 miles from home!

But it runs so good with 193,000 (22re) that I don't want to mess with it and just drive it. Last fill up I was getting 20 mpg, one before that I got 22 city and hwy.

Found an old 3'' body lift and some 33 BGF ATs. But I'm not sure if I want to mess with the gas mileage. Decisions, decisions.......

Nice! I love my 88 though I wish it was a 4cyl like yours!! Id keep it stock or mild mods. I put BJ spacers and 2" lift springs on mine with 30" tires it looks good to me and goes everywhere Ive ever taken it, I don't wheel too hard though, I don't want to bend up my truck, I have a dual sport bike for that!

I would vote to keep it stock. I keep both of mine bone stock and wouldn't want them any other way. I like sporting off the 'as is' awesomeness that Toyota put into these trucks.

I agree, I like the look of bigger tires!

I have had about 8 other toyotas over the years most with 33s or 35s ,but I was looking for something as a dd for now. I know the bug will get me soon enough.......

x3, but i believe in: 'Lift as little as needed" theory
I personally like the look of big tires and little lift, but DON'T go just to get em in there!!!LOL That truck is in great shape and itll be a shame to see it all beat. I wish my truck was that clean, wanna trade??

I ended up trading a 4 wheeler for it.....sort of.

Bought the 4 wheeler from by brother, cleaned it up and sold it.

Used the proceeds to buy the '88 off craigslist as a first come with cash kind of deal. I got a good deal on it.

It has a few dents here and there, but not too bad at all.

Well CRAP!

I think 2nd gear went out! Help me here....

I am hearing a loud knock that gets faster with engine RPM, not speed.

the knock goes away with when the clutch is engaged.

the knock is louder in 2nd gear and I feel "thuds"

I can use 1,3,4,5 but still hear the knocking.

No leaks, just started doing this today, 195,000 miles. I have put about 3,000 miles on it.

Thanks guys!
