New Here Frame Question
Been lurking and reading for a while and finally gonna start bothering everyone with newby questions. I may be getting an 86 toyota excab 4x4. Problem is that from the cab back the frame is rusted out beyond repair. Has anyone on here ever cut from the cab back of good frame off and attached to cab forward on bad frame? Any threads ( looked but could not find ) someone could lead me to? Pictures of how it was done would be great. Also this will be my first toyota. Am I getting in over my head on this one?

If you have the welding and fab skills tools and a good place to work. Helpers you can count on you could do this alone but it would be very frustrating
Knowing full well what you are getting into it can be done .
But it is a lot of work even knowing and having done this sort of work.
I would hope you are in the Southwestern US because that is about the only place you would find a good frame.
It would be much easier to find a truck with a good frame and swap the good parts to that.
The frame splice and the welding are the easiest part of the job. It is all the brake and fuel lines and removing and installing the bed and gas tank and all the broken bolts
The splice of the frame cut both front and rear sections in a Z and join them weld these parts
Then make 4 plates 3/8'' or 1/2" they will look like a fish tapered at both ends drill 4 holes ( more if your plates are longer) in each plate so that 2 holes are in your front section and 2 holes are in the back of your frame splice at least 1/2" or M12bolts. You could get by with 3/8" or M10 if you are using longer fish plates and have 6 bolts in each one
Bolt and weld staying away from the corners.
It would also be nice to see your beyond repair frame.
If you do decide to do this or have any more questions feel free to PM me
