New Engine won't start 1993 3.0

1993 Pickup 4x4 3.0

I installed a new engine, had the block bored and heads redone.
The engine turns over and almost starts, sputters a little and dies.
I have double checked the vacuum lines and pulled the front of engine back apart to check timing marks all fine.
I have spark and I have gas just need them to work together.

Any help would be great

It sounds like your distributer might be off by a tooth or two, i would try setting the engine to tdc and pull the cap off the distributer and make sure the rotor is pointing towards the #1 wire
