New Cat...
Just got a universal cat from Crappy Tire and both ends are 2 1/4 but my exhaust is 2". I'll be taking it to a guy that does good exahaust work but will it matter that they are two sizes...it is only 1/4" difference. I know I've asked this in the past but can something be rigged so there are sleeves and clamps instead of welding? Anymore suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I just wasn't sure if I wanted it welded because if I ever needed it removed to get to something it would be one piece...but then again the times that I would need to remove my exhaust will hopefully be very few...so weld eh?

Hey DCG, by adapters do you mean sleeves or the clamps themselves? I figured clamping would be alright because the rest of my exhaust has either clamps (at muffler) or bolts with the flange and gasket as they are direct fit pipes. The direct fit cat was $140 vs. $80 uni so I figured I could make something work one was or another.

have your exhaust guy get peices of 2inch pipe and he can stretch the ends to fit each pipe perfectly, ten weld it on.
over time clamps will leak, theres nothing you will need to get to that reuires removing the cat only.
