New 3VZE (rebuilt) valve gasket leak and rough start

Need some advice; My engine crapped out two months ago and i had a new one built and installed. machanic put new gaskets, radiator and clutch in. The oil has been leaking almost 1qt a week . so i cleaned the engine up and located the leak. Both valve gaskets are leaking on the rear outter bolts (cylinder 6 and 5). The passenger side is much worse than the driver side. I changed the oil at 1,500 and im at about 3000 right now (on the rebuilt). Im well aware that my 1989 4Runner likes to mark its territory, but it shouldnt be leaking at this rate. The shop gave me a 3 year warrenty on the engine. Is there something that i can do before i turn it over to the shop? Im not looking forward to taking the air intake off, just to re-torque the bolts?

second question; Since the new engine has been put in, my cold starts are very very rough. I crank the engine and it takes about 30 seconds to get any sort of rpm going. For those first 30 seconds or so i cant even rev the gas or it will cut the engine. Is it something with the Cat or could it be a fuel pump? how do i check? about a year ago my reverse lights didnt work and one day i stripped all of the extra wiring crap the previous owner had and badabing my reverse lights started working. While my truck as at the shop getting the new engine, someone jacked my stereo and now the reverse lights dont work again . Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

ok...if you paid a mechanic to fix your 4runner, you should take it back and tell them all this problems you are having....dont do nothing to it and take it back.

x2 on taking it back to the shop that installed the engine. Their warranty should definitely cover this within 3000 miles. If they don't cover it, post up the name of the shop so we know to stay clear.

Ive contacted the machanic and hes got no problem looking at it. Is it possible my reverse light switch got knocked loose or not reinstalled? my 4x4 indicator light is also not working anymore and ive read that they are the same switch?
