Need Vacuum Hose Expert Advice. 3VZE
Team, have a good one fer y'all.
1991 4Runner, 2WD, 3.0L, 3VZE, non-california, 257,000 miles
I located a loose vacuum hose today. Picture attached. (#1) of the hose.
it comes off what looks to be a "y" barb on the hex fitting shown, and the other end is dangling un-connected around the power steering unit. Its a long hose, about 12-14"... I can not see any easy connection that looks like it is missing a hose.
To help everyone locate this hose/fitting/picture, it is the passenger side of the aluminum Manifold. for reference, the Top hose, #2, terminates at the #3 VSV, which is for the EGR according to the FSM link, below.
http://web.archive.org/web/201008061...n/layoutan.pdf
Can anyone point me to the right page/link in the FSM,or a link anywhere else online to help me figure out where this hose should attach to, or the part number it should attach to, so i can search it? anyone with a camera to shoot a picture of their part that this goes to gets good karma!!
Thanks, appreciate the help!!
PS. I have rescued this 4Runner from the scrap yard and after 3 months of everything i could think of, plus all the posts on this forum. Now runs well, passed emissions.... got the Mpg from 13 to 17!.
Thanks,
TK

Here is a great thread with some pics that should be able to answer your question: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...s-here-230638/. Wrenchinjoe quoted a link from someone else that I found most helpful.
Also has a link to another really good vacuum hose thread with pics.
Good luck!

There should be a vacuum valve screwed into the power steering pump. The hose goes there. Maybe one of the nipples is broken off the valve? Plug the end of that hose if the valve is broken and get another valve from a wrecking yard because they are expensive new!!!

That valve is the power-steering "idle-up," which keeps you from killing the engine when you are parallel parking. As YotaWorx says, the first thing you should do is plug the loose line (if that is the one we think it is) because it is a vacuum "leak" into the plenum. Since it has probably been that way for awhile, someone has probably turned down the idle as an idiot's compensation. Get that set correctly.
Once you get the new/junk valve, when you put it in the idle will stay set correctly.
