need some 22RE help please
I have an 86 4runner-22RE
This weekend I picked up a complete intake, injectors, fuel rail, throttle body, AFM, etc... plus intake side wiring harness from a 93. I bought it to swap the upper plenum and throttle body out. But I'm wondering if there is anything to gain from getting the ECU and harness for the drivers side and completely swapping over?
Thanks,
Ron

Driver side may connect the AFM. Generally, my experience has been that drivers side pulls power from fuse block on pass fender. If you come up short on connectors on drivers side, you'll need the driver side wiring.
Best of luck....

Actually the AFM plug is one that I recognize in the intake sides harness. I'm starting to wonder if I couldn't get away with swapping this intake/harness with a newer ECU and a heated O2 sensor and have it all work... But does it actually gain me anything? I know that the newer setup uses different injectors but are they better?

I think I have managed to basically answer my own question. The older pre 88/89ish 22RE used Peak/Hold injectors and the newer 22RE used a Saturated injector. From my reading Peak/Hold injectors are faster at opening and closing than Saturated injectors. I don't expect to turn this motor into some beast that really needs that, but since that is what is already in it I'll be sticking to the older injectors and wiring harness...
