Need Help something wrong with 94 pickup
Hey Guys I need some help today while driving home from work my 1994 manual tranny pickup with 50k miles on it made a wierd noise. I went to push in the clutch to shift from 1st to 2nd and when I did I felt a pop and then something was making a loud whirring noise I stopped at a stop sign and continued on the whirring noise was gone but something sounded like it was clanking now any ideas what this could be??? Any help would be great

Ok i read some threads about the timing chain and decided to pop the valve cover and take a look much to my surprise there were bits and pieces of the guides floating around down in between the chain my question is could this have been why my truck was acting wierd and also how much money am i looking at spending to have everything fixed

Not sure where your from and what prices are, but here in Kelowna BC I was quoted about $1000 replace my chain.
It's gonna be about 10 - 12 hours of labor if they do it how the manual describes.
engnbldr.com has a good tc cover with steel guides

I've got a 94 X-tra Cab in the shop now having a Head gasket repair done and they are replacing the knock sensor, knock sensor wire, timing belt, and water pump also for $900 total cost. My HG blew on both #1, and #6. Mine is an Automatic 4x4 with the 3vze.

I just thought about having my done after I first bought my truck and got a price quote and I was told that the lowest it could be is $800. But I removed the valve cover and saw that the chain and guides look like they've been recently replaced. And there were signs that the top end had been cleaned up and recently worked on.
