I was temped to try that, but pumped it in the filler hole instead.

Don't know what to tell you man, maybe it will go down if you wait a bit.

you have a forward-shift transmission, which has a big empty cavity underneath the transfer case shifter... the only time that there is fluid in there is when the rear seal on the trans is leaking... you just can't tell that it's leaking, because whatever leaks is sealed up in that big cavity... it's a stupid design.

if you look into the hole where the shifter was, you can see where the end of the shifter fits in the rod that goes back to the transfer case.

siphon out the gear oil, take the flat plate off of the transfer case directly behind the transmission, and put the gear oil in there.

harbor freight or an auto parts store should have one of those cheap siphon pumps that you squeeze to get the flow started... not sure how well it'll work with thick gear oil? you may have to use a bigger diameter one.

once you have the pump, you could use it to put the gear oil in at the proper fill plug, that Stetson linked to.
