Need help quick..

So heres my problem I have been looking for a solid axle 4runner or pu and I found one it is a 1985 4runner 22re 5spd all orginal 13?k on the clock I drove it and only thing I noticed is it needs an alginment transmission feel solid quiet as a chruch mouse he is willing to trade me straight across for my 1991 IFS pu only if I can get the valves queiter I tried adjusting them twice today and they are still noise the engine only has about 5k the head was rebuilt including new valves now I did do a search and one thing I came up with is that maybe I need a new rocker arm assembly I read that the pads can wear out and make the valve train noisier than it already is?? I s this true and I am sure there is no way to check them?? I am supposed to trade tommrow maybe I can trow a few hundred dollars his way...

ha Im in the same position I just replaced my motor about 2k miles ago and the valvetrain is too noisy for a new motor. I got it from a guy up in washington called Johns Foreign Engines I dont know much about them but I hear they build good motors?? I hope all I need to do is replace rockers. Any input would help.

I did some more searching and think it might be my rocker arms they were the only thing up top I didn't replace it is either that or the new timing chain set I put in has a bad tensioner but I am going with the rocker arms..
