Need help please. 94 22re no spark from coil
To all my yota tech brothrs.hey guys thanks for any help in advance. My truck is a 94 single cab pickup with 162000 original miles on it..here is my problem.first off i am kind of a newb when it comes to the 22re and mechanics. One day i was driving to work i engaged the clutch and took the vehicle out of gear (put into neutral) to come to a stop. As soon as i engaged the clutch, the motor died and has not started since..once i had it towed back, i pulled a plug and was not getting any spark..to rule out the distributor, i pulled the spark wire that runs from the coil to the top of the distributor. There was no spark from the coil to the distributor. I then did something very stupid and i held onto this wire and it should hav zapped me, thankfully, but unfortunately it did not.. I started by replacing the coil, still no spark...i talked to sean at yota jims here in colorado thinking it might be the ignitor, he said more than likely it was. I picked up a used coil/ignitor assembly from his yard as well as an open circuit relay. I installed all of these, and still no spark.. All of the accessories on my truck still work leading me to believe it is not the harness itself...i can smell gas after cranking it, so it is getting fuel, i have checked all fuses with the exception of the efi fuse.. I am at a loss.. When starting the truck does all of the power come directly from the battery or does it switch after first crank to the alternator? The only reason i ask is the very first crank sounds way different thatn the attempts to follow.. Anyone have the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
