Need Help passing e-test

Hi,

I bought a 92 3L 4WD ext cab to fix up with my son. In Ontario you need to pass the e-test to change the ownership.

The e-test failed with

HC 200 ppm
CO 1.16 %
NO 1928 ppm

First of all I made the fatal mistake of not warming it up, and I didn't change the oil. But these readings are pretty high. Would they go that much lower ?

I've checked the O2 it's working as in it gets 8 crossings in 10 seconds, although I didn't time it exactly. Vf1 is 0 so it's running rich

The PO put stainless headers on it and there is a very small hole where he brazed the EGR on. Now there's another "module" attached further down the header that is loose at the bolt where it attaches to the header. First of all what is it ?

There's two codes in the ECU 14, and 52. 14 I may have caused myself. I'm going to clear the codes and remeasure vf1 to see if it goes to 2.5

Also the PO welded the cat in. Where can I get a cheap cat assuming I need one.

Anyone have any other advice, other than a new cat ?

Dave

What about new spark plugs and running some seafoam through it? Lot's of little things to consider that might get it to pass before you have to spend the big bucks. Hopefully someone will have the answers. Good luck!
