Need help with an odd 3.0 problem
This really has me stumped. OK, it will start and run fine. Smooth and no power loss, even when warmed up. I can run it all day. But, as soon as I shut it off after it has warmed up, and restart it, it drops a cylinder. It seems like it is #6 when I pull the wire off the Dcap. I checked and replaced the plug (NGK Irridiums), the wire is good and the plug fires. Since it runs fine at first, I am assuming the injector is good, unless I am missing something. The only other thing that I can think of is the EGR, but wouldnt I feel it as soon as the engine warms up. What am I missing here. I dont feel like changing parts till I find it, and sometimes, it wont do it at all. Oh, and no coolant leaks or exhaust steam either.

Could be the beginning of head gasket failure. They tend to fail in #6 or #1 cylinder.
There may not yet be enough leakage to see steam from the tail pipe.
Try a chemical block check.

Just an update on this problem. Well, for the most part this winter, it went away. But as the weather heated up, so did this problem. The head gaskets are fine, and Toyota tells me that my engine already has the updated head gaskets according to the manufacture date. I capped off the vacuum lines going to the EGR and this seems to help. Only occasionally it will do it. Usually after driving around all day, then stopping at the 7-11 for a drink. I will start it up, and it will idle/run real rough with no power, then it smooths back out and power comes back after a few minutes of driving. Plugs new(iridium), wires good, cap/rotor new, no water fouling on the old plugs. They actually looked good. Over all the truck runs fantastic other than this intermittent problem. What other sensors are tied in with the EGR that I should replace along with it.
