Well, it depends on how much was "shaved" off.

Many around here will say to get the kit from Tod at www.engnbldr.com and if you call with your situation you'll likely be taken care of in no time.

Just where did the latest head gasket fail??

Might help to know just what went wrong.

Was the timing cover machined as well to match the head??

I would talk to Engine Builder see what Todd or Ted has to say.

Good advice and my experience with engbldr.com is their products are really good quality. AND you can call them to ask for advice!!!

My last headgasket was actually from toyota.

Could be something other than the headgasket that is causing the headgasket to fail.

well i have not had the time to tear it down yet will do this weekend i have no clue how much they had to shave off to fix the head i dont think it was much..... no the timing chain was not machined to match ??? do i need to do that ??? does anyone one know the best head gasket to use ? best quality? etc???

the timing cover, all the bolt holes lined up and it fix nice and tight like before

With our engines there is three parts that need to be machined to "match." Head, block, and timing chain cover. If the timing chain cover was not machined to same deck as block the head won't be flat and the HG will have weak spots in it from not equal mounting and pressure and so forth.

Did you flush out coolant system including heater before installing new HG? Debris has a tendency to settle out in heater. Turn on heater debris gets circulated and if pieces are big enough they'll clog HG and "blow it."

Did you ream out head bolt holes and get trash out of bottom of holes. Trash left in head bolt holes will prevent proper torque (well technically clamping force) of head and blow HG.

I'm sure there's more possible causes to premature HG failure but these are three that come to mind quickest.

As for the best headgasket, that question has been debated several times please feel free to search it and make your own assumption. Or three ppl in a row recommended engine builder or go to Toyota. Or go with autozone no skin off my back.

muddpigg........yes head and block are the same i didnt do the timing cover but it did set flush ,i did not flush the system ''i will this time!!!!!!!!!'', the only thing i can think of is they recommend to buy new head bolts and i did not buy new one i used the old ones from before so i think that might be my problem
........ thank you everyone for your input..... i will post picks when i tear it down friday...i went with the graphite gasket so we shall see what goes on from here!!!!!!!!

I just bought that same kit but I also bought the head and bolts from them 293 total so hopefully I made a good choice
