I have to admit I've never had an electrical problem that a fuse or something else straight forward (starter, alternator...) didn't fix. It may be time for me to let someone else figure it out. I'm definitely out of my league here.

I wish we could help further. I'm sure there are some RE folks that have more info.

As for us Southern folk, we would get a momentary toggle switch, and just wire that to the solenoid on the starter, from the battery. We might even do it with a relay, the "proper" way, if we were feeling frisky! Otherwise, some sort of industrial amperage rated toggle switch would suffice. Then we would turn on the key to power everything up, hit the toggle to engage the starter, and be on our way... No need/time for those silly solenoids and regulators and relays and crap...

if you get that far into it, you might as well replace the contacts rather than just sand them. they are probably worn, in addition to being corroded.

i've got a write-up (on t4r.org) about replacing the starter contacts in my '87. it isn't technically difficult, just awkward to reinstall the starter, since one of the clutch slave cylinder mounting points is the lower starter bellhousing attachment, too. link here http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classi...ep-thread.html

for electrical questions/advice/knowledge, check out some of RAD4runner's posts. ray is exceptionally gifted wrgt the electrical systems of these trucks.

Hahahah I like to call that redneck rigged. I might try that if I run out of ideas. Now it has a new ignition switch and coil. Still no start lol. I had my mechanic come out and he's pretty sure it's the clutch pressure sensor. Both the manuals I have now do not have an internal electrical diagram for the manual tranny though. Any idea where the clutch position sensor goes?

I'm fairly sure that the fuel lines are switched. Sorry for this noob question but where are the posts for your 4runner, Terrys87??

Now it has a new ignition coil and switch. My mechanic came out and he's fairly sure it the clutch pressure sensor. I have an override switch ordered and on its way. Any idea where the clutch pressure switch is on these guys? I'm not locating it in either of the manuals that I have.

Btw - I said 12.46 amps earlier. I meant 12.46 VOLTS. Woops hahaha

It is on the clutch pedal bracket.

If you get your head down under there and look up you will be able to see it.

The clutch position switch should be on the clutch pedal, down under the dash. But I believe there should be a clutch bypass switch on the dash, to the left of steering wheel. Make sure it's out of gear, because if it cranks/starts, it'll be heading out of the driveway... Or through the house... Or you could push in the clutch and hit the switch just to be sure. I'm sure you can bypass the switch, but I'm not sure how. Do search here and/or google and there should be instructions. I'm sure it's just a jumper wire. (I'm going off of pure, short memory here...)

On a side note, in another thread, 85turborunner mentioned that the silver finned box on the passenger wheelwell, is a injector resistor box. I don't believe it would have anything to do with cranking. But search up on that subject.
