Need help!

I have a 1986 pickup 22REC, sometimes when I disengage the clutch and I am coming to a stop either in neutral or 1st gear, the rpms bounce between like 100 and 300 and then the truck with die, I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that could help me with figuring out what the problem is...thanks

Just spitballing, but some simple ones to eliminate.

vacuum line leak, easier to replace lines that hunt for leak
intermittent electrical short, eliminate main grounds first.

check your egr hose circut, a vacuum hose connected wrong can do that when it opens when its not supposed to, mine did that it would hunt for an idle around 3-5 hundred rpms. until I came to a stop and it would idle up to normal. you can pull the hose off the diaphragm and test drive it and see if the problem goes away. if its sucking exhaust fumes with a closed throttle body it does just what you described

I had the same issue. Found that one of the hose clamps which hold the connecting tube to the air box and throttle body was lose and allowing extra air to go in after the air fuel meter. When coming to a halt, it would lean out the system. Good luck.
