Need diagnosing help

So a week ago I start smelling gas then I have trouble starting my pickup it will turn over but will not start it just sits and turns over like 15-20 times then starts so after looking around I notice a slight gas leak I take it into my mechanic and low and behold I need a new sending unit putting 2 and 2 together I figure the trouble starting was the low pressure in fuel due to the leak so after dishing out $200 ish odd dollars for a sending unit I get it back and to my surprise it is still having the starting trouble my battery is an eveready and the label says January 06 I checked my plugs and plug wires and all seems good and tight my belts are tight as well so my question is this what could be causing this Starter? battery? Alternator?? I would ahve guessed battery but I would assume that it would ahve trouble turning over which it doesn't it just has trouble starting after turning over like 20 times

I was told by the yota mechanic at the stealership that the csi dosn't even come into play until sub zero temps? This is when he told me to replace the relay behind the glove box. It solved my problem, but mine would not start period (sometimes) and other times fire right up. I could always bump start it so he narrowed it down to the relay. A few years ago I had a leaky injector on #5, this was causing leghtly starts, I changed that one injector and it started fine.

If there is no gas smell than it is not likely an injector. When my realy was bad my truck WOULD NOT START. I had to bump start it, or turn the key of and on 20-30 times for it to engage. If you are only turning the key once than I don't think it is the relay. Even thought the battery may seem fine, try boosting your truck with another vehicle that is running. If it starts right away, the battery has enough power to crank, but mabye not give a good spark.

I also see your truck has very low milage. Congrats but trucks that have sat for extended periods of time often aquire wierd problems. Not sure if this is the case. Does it run fine after starting? does it start right away after it takes a long time the first time?

Ok I'll try that as some of you might know by my other posts this truck has 58K original on it right now and its a 94 I believe that whoever had it before me let it sit for a good while when I got it the oil was like jet black from not being changed the timing chain was already on its way out and now I had the sedning unit and the lenthy starts I think I'm seeing def proof that letting a vehicle sit is bad bad bad

isnt there a check valve somewhere in the system that keeps fuel from leaking back into the tank? maybe try turning the key to the on position without starting a couple times then, try turning it over...you may just need to "prime" the system....dunno, tho...I'm just guessing.

Below 80f? that counts as cold, I guess it refers to engine cold not ambient cold.

Could also be the AFM (air flow meter). If it is stuck and not seeing air movement you will not get fuel. Try holding the flap open abit with your finger.
