need advice on new wheels
I'm looking to put some black steelies on my truck very soon, but notice each brand seem to have different back spacing. My truck has a 3'' body lift with 31's. I don't want the tires sticking way outside the body and slinging mud up so do I want more back spacing or less to keep the tires under the truck?
thanks guys

the higher the number the more the wheel is tucked in. the lower the number the further out the wheel sets. most wheels are some where between 3" and 6" backspacing . Factory for your truck i think was 16x8.0 Wheel Offset = +1.00 mm - Back Space = 4.54" Inches. a wider wheel needs less backspacing so it will not rub. so if you stay with an 8" wide wheel and want it to look stock keep 4.5 backspace.

welcome to YT!
stock wheels are a 15x7-4.75 with a 6x5.5 lug pattern.
if you're planning to use a wider tire in the future, like a 12.5" then you will need to bump up the width to at least 8" in order to mount the tires. where things get confusing is that with the extra tire width, the stock backspacing doesn't always allow clearance.
best advice i could give is to figure out which tire size/brand you want, then figure out what size wheel you want - lastly search this combo for toyota trucks here on YT or Google or any other toyota forum...more than likely many people have done it before you and it will make things so much easier if you're copying a setup.

I was mistaken in wheel size, thanks for correcting me highonpottery. the wheels I had that came off the 94 Tacoma I owned must have been land cruiser wheels the previous owner installed.

My truck already has 31x10.5x15 BFG KO's so I'm keeping the tires I just wanted to replace the wheels and make sure they don't stick out so far. As mentioned I have a 3'' body lift so rubbing isn't an issue with my current tire size.
I'm going to go with a 15x8 with 4'' back spacing. Thanks
