NBC Story on Toyota Recall

The NBC stations are running a story on a family who did not get the recall and lost their son when it snapped.

Has anyone else heard about other accidents?

After watching that video and seeing what can happen, don`t put off getting your truck fixed, your life is worth way more than 400 dollars, and that goes for anyone else here that has one one of these vehicles that falls under the recall.

I was under the impression they would fix it for free. What's this 400 dollars they wanted to charge you?

The kid had a .03 blood alcohol level. Not much but still...

How do they know the relay rods didn't break during the wreck because the kid lost control when he was (I'm sure) going way too fast on a country road??

This lawsuit is bogus. I can't believe this sort of thing is allowed.

The kid was drinking, speeding on a back country road, not wearing his seat belt, and rolled the truck. They never mention in the story that the Relay rod was broken, or even damaged at all.

WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE RECALL?!?!!?

His kid is a RETARD, and he is looking for someone to blame. Oh look, toyota has a recall it MUST be their fault. And yet another media story that criticizes a National brand, simply to make a news story. Its very easy to point fingers at a major brand, because the negative publicity of saying "its not our fault" would kill them.

On a road trip once I took mine to a dealership to get some caliper bolts (they were the only place that had them in whatever town I was in near Abilene) and the computer popped up that mine had never been done.

All you have to do is call and give them your VIN.

Call yer local dealer and ask them if your truck is eligable. Thats what I did. They never sent me any notice...

I noticed that they never directly stated that the relay rod was the cause of the accident...

mine did break while driving! Good thing i was only going about 20mph when i nailed a row of trees. Toyota did pay me the truck value since it was destroyed. But only after they sent out their investigator to check out the truck and relay rod.

Yeah, but that would have made you just as bad as these people.........
Angry and sad because you lost your son, looking for anyone to blame.

BTW all three of these kids were thrown from the truck, did anyone have seat belts on?

Ricky, I believe it was most 86-95.
Call your local stealer and give them your vin(s) and they'll tell you if it has or hasnt been done...
