MY Tune Up ?

OK, I got all the parts I need to do a compleat tune up from toyota. I'm going to be taken it to my shop to get done. My question is, how much do you all think I should be paying for this with me supplying all the goods?

Thanks for your help.

This is the type of rig being worked on.

1995 toyota 4runner 4x4 with a 3.0

Why don't you just do the tune up yourself?

Wow, those are really easy to do. You should do an oil change, grease the driveshafts, new air filter etc.....

Cap and rotor can be done with a screwdriver..

Easy peasy on our trucks, try doing them on a chevy 350!

I'd say no more than $100, I think a lot of shops would supply parts and get it done for $175 in my area. Some shops really don't like installing parts they didn't provide, and most will not warranty the work as well so ask ahead of time. I know these are cheap parts, but you never know.

P.S. get a small socket set. I've got a Stanley 210 pc. (I think, something like that) and it has almost everything I need to do a LOT of stuff on my toy. Everything from 1/4 to 3/4 sockets/ratchets, metric and standard, common wrenches, allens etc. I'm pretty sure it cost like $80. I've been using it for around 4 years now and no problems. Stanley makes a great tool for a shadetree mechanic, you don't NEED snap on etc.... Get a Toyota FSM and you will be amazed at how much stuff you can fix if you've never even seen it before Ask me how I know.

Are you serious? Good grief, man. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, valve....all that stuff should last more than 3k....even with the cheapest brands. Unless you have some issues going on.

I don't believe it's anything to do with his education level. Something about a time factor, though....
