Nice work! You mihgt consider taking that flex hose to an exsost shop and have them bend a piece of tubing to the same shape. You can get even more performance with a smooth pipe rather than flex hose.

Nice work. Can you feel a difference in performance? Without the silencer, is the intake loud?

Thanks guys. Yup I can definitely feel it. I know I'm doing at least 8-10hp more just by feel alone. As to the smooth pipe the reason I went this route is I had an impossible time finding a mandrel bend. Some of the guys posted ideas in a different thread but by that time I had it in my head to use the flex.
I'm sure not losing much by those ridges as you can tell by the smile on my face. The waffle ridges in the original tubing slow down the air a heck of alot more than these...The loss is mininal I think. Oh yeah. the intake does sound alot cleaner and has a nice little moan to it now!!! Thumbs up on the mod and hats off to the guys that came up with it (Blu)!

Nice job ctcost,
looks like flexable exhaust tubing, the ridges inside shouldn't be a real issue if that's the case. Just one thing to be aware of. Be sure the nuts holding the fittings in place have some type of lock-tite to help hold them tight (don't want them rascals going inside the intake). Going all black? I'll vouch for this mod anytime. It's like night and day. No more flooring it on an uphill onramp to get up to freeway speeds!!! I know they went a little overbore on my engine when they did the rebuild...That helped too...Think the next mod to try is TRunner's high flow catalytic converter.

Haven't noticed any problems at all Mikro. Nothing but pluses...also, not having to stomp on the gas all the time saves some milage. Even coasting in a parking lot the motor sounds like it's breathing better.

Oh also, the infamous 3.0 tick with the windows down is now overshadowed by a deeper throatier nice intake tone.

ctcost, I'm calling around to find the parts now...hopefully I can do this tomorrow. Sounds like a cool little project.
One question...I'm not clear on where/how you used the o-rings. Can you give me the lowdown on that? Thanks! Edit...yea, I'm going to de-chrome...I am not sure the chrome is going to be paintable, though. I heard I would need self-etching primer, which shouldn't be any harder than regular primer...but I am not sure how it will hold up. I took the grill and corners off yesterday and primed/painted them. I think it looks kewl. I may just do the valance next. Then the mirrors. I'm on the fence about the bumpers, even though I want the chrome to go!

Hi Greg: Yeah the O-rings I put between the nut and the inside wall of the pipe. On one I did this on the inside and outside but found out it was onlu needed on the inside. Good luck on bringing it all together...Post a piccy when when your done!

OK, so the o-rings will have to be the size of the tube. So these are to seal the air from the couplings and the intake tube? Wouldn't the hose clamps do an adequate job at this? I'm heading to pick up the goods now...I think the fittings were located, gotta head over and check it out. Everything else seems fairly easy to find.

Yeah they need to be the size of the threaded ends of the brass fittings. They go on the threaded end of the brass fittings inbetween the nut and the tubing wall on the inside. The nuts I bought were the thin wide ones so I didn't even see the need for washers. Just make sure to tighten em down really tight and use that lliquid Lock-Tite stuff on em so they don't come off.

Haven't found any at all Scofo. Says your in the Yukon though...wonder if the metal piping might make a dif in that extreme weather you guys get. Maybe not though once everything warms up inside the compartment. Could always find a way to insulate it somehow if that were a concern i guess.

I don't see any reason that cold would be a factor, I mean were working with an injected system and supplying better air flow. We've been hitting 32 degrees F for he last several nights here and I haven't had any problems, then again it's only fall. I look at it as just being a bit chilly.
