My new truck.
Here are a couple of pics from the 1995 pickup I just bought.
$500.00
It has a rod knock, and needs some minor repairs.
174,000 miles.
Truck needs a good cleaning (and a new carpet).
The mess of wires I removed from it (alarm, stereo, trailer wiring).
Plans for it? 3.4 swap, SAS, 4" lift, 2" body lift, 35's, 4:88's.
What will get done? Repair the lower end, replace the windshield, replace the front bumper and R/F fender.
Where it goes from there ???

With the cab and frame being in such good condition I couldn't pass this up. The bed and tailgate will have to be replaced (rust/damage from PO). For now the job will be to get this running and registered. I need to replace my DD (has a big hole in the frame).
I do have one question though. In the second picture, there is a small dent in the drivers side of the cab.
Could that have been from the cap or did the owner back into something and the bed hit the cab?

Nice truck! I'd love to pick something like that up for $500. What engine is currently in it?

I'd be careful with that thing..... what with the dent in the cab, spun rod and general mess inside my advice would be to sell it and cut your losses now.
I'll give you 550$ for it.
Just kidding. Nice find and keep us up to date on the build!!

Small update
Who ever did the heater core in this truck kinda messed up. The pipes were damaged so the heater hose was leaking INTO the cab. The pipes were also not screwed to the box properly so they melted a big hole in the sound insulation for the firewall. One of the rubber grommets for the firewall is missing. I pulled everything. I ordered a new peice of insulation and I'll install it in a couple of days. Gives me a good chance to clean everything.

Yeah I got the title. He brought it to my friend to fix the rod knock. When he got the price to fix it and everything else wrong with the truck, he decided to just get rid of it.

With HVAC system out, make sure you clean up this mess if it's there...

It's not as bad as that . Everything does have a nice layer of dust. I'll be wiping everything down before reassembly. I spoke to the parts department today and they said the insulation is on backorder.
Waiting on a crank. Waiting on firewall insulation.
Good time to install the body lift???

Still waiting on parts. So I decided to install the body lift. With everything out it makes it much easier. The cab bolts came right out, I need to clean and paint the washers before reinstalling them (surface rust).
I found the rubber cab mounts to be cracked, so I'll be replacing them. I hope they are still available from the dealer. I really don't want to put urethane ones in (heard it's a rough ride afterwards).
What happened to "fix the rod knock and drive it"
