I got a Flowmaster 50 series. It is kinda throaty , but not to loud on the inside. my neighbor says he can hear me coming down the road. and people I have wheeled with said it sound pretty good.although now i think my tires drown out the muffler.

i have had straight pipes, a cherry bomb 8" glasspack, thrush 28" glasspack, and a thrush turbo. The straights and 8" glasspack were just plain loud and crackled when you stepped on it which is the sound i wanted. The thrush glasspack had a nice deep mellow tone and the turbo is just junk.

I've tried many mufflers with different trucks- and when your on that long trip on the highway- you'll appreciate not having a drone in the cab. I've got a direct fit Magnaflow cat, LCE headers, Dynomax cat back. Nice and quiet.

Flowmaster 70 Series, the big, big, big one with the extra chamber to dampen cabin resonance.
I have Downey headers into 2.5" into a 2.5" high flow cat, then into the 2.5" Flowmaster 70. At idle and on the trail, it rumbles like a V8. At mid to high RPM, it is really quiet, both in the cab and outside. I don't like scaring my 3 year old with the thing.

88 3zve... Headers and straight-piped. Sounds quiet driving normally, (I know thats hard to believe). But once you step on it holy hell.. Sounds good.

My truck had a borla cat back kit for some unknown vehicle on it when I got it. I liked the high flow of the borla but it sounded too much like a lawnmower for my tastes so I had the exhaust shop stick a 14" resonator behind it, pretty much a 14" glasspack. Not sure I like how it sounds, there is more sound from the rushing of exhaust gasses than combustion.
