MPG, Cold air intake and POOGS??

My rig is an 89 4runner with a 22re and auto. Since I have installed my cold air intake I have been experiencing some POOGS (Phantom Out Of Gas Syndrome) sometimes when I accelerate from a stop and occasionally while I cruising along. I know some of y'all don't believe in a cold air system, but I know with the current auto tranny it doesn’t wander through the gears nearly as much and mileage has increased, I don't know how much, but now I'm getting 15MPG with 265/75-16s. My header should be here tomorrow! When I’m done, I will be running a 5spd, 235/85-16s (same height, +/- 32” but less resistance) and may go from my current 4:30 gears to 4:10S to try and get a couple more MPG. Not sure what I can expect to achieve, but 22-23 MPG would be nice.

Is your questions what could cause those symptoms? If so then have you changed your fuel filter yet. It can be a PITA and that's why many people don't do it but that can make a big difference. Also have you run any Seafoam through your truck. I have heard the if you run it through the break booster it doesn't get to the #1 cylinder. But if you by the spray can of it and put it through the intake it gets all 4. Seafoam is like the wonder drug for our trucks.
