I need a picture of the mounting system (bumper to frame) for an aftermarket bumper. I am debating building a rear bumper/ tire carrier.

I used to have a rear hitch, but I took it off and sold it as I dragged on everything.

have you tried looking at the MC site for some clues?
most aftermarket bumpers use flat stock that bolts to the frame rails and is cut/welded to step down / clear the bed / tailgate / roll pan.

If you do like this don't let the ends hang out so far, my MC bumper is tighly wrapped around but still catches stuff.

I know you were asking about bumper mounting ideas but thought I would throw this out there.
I used the rockstomper hinge kit but if I had seen this kit I would have probably gone this route:

Are they expensive? I'm in 2nd year university- thus constantly broke. I might steel some ideas though. This bumper (BCC I think) has the simplest mounting system I've seen and looks plenty strong.

I do like the modularity of 4Crawler's design though.

Some bearing kits for the swing-out tire carrier...maybe a little overkill, but not too pricey.

it's all about personal preferance and yes like you say, budget. its less than a ARB front bumper but probably more than a marlin crawler rear bumper. It's something i would buy even if i had to save cause i just love the look and strength.

the way i wish i would have done it is to use the trailer hitch portion and cut it off at the end and you have your mounting brackets and just build off of that. you know its strong enough and you dont have to worry about drilling the holes and hoping they match up... kinda fool proof i think.

Big country customs is a great shop. They have pretty good hourly rates for a fab shop. Call Taran (the owner) and see what he could do for you.

I got my sliders and bumper from them (and the girlfriends 4runner bumper), they are also building me a custom front bumper

I sold the tow hitch to help pay for school, so that isn't an option.

Hey Matt, if you're intersested I removed the hitch off my girlfriends 95 runner when I put the marlin bumper on. Its for sale

I'm going to pass cause I think you can get more for it than I'd be willing to pay. I would only need the frame mounts, which I can make pretty easily I think.

Thats cool the brackets are VERY sinple. Biggest thing is making sure the holes are lined up (tight fit!!!)

Yeah, I'm definitely going to be making patterns on plywood first and drilling the frame carefully. By the way, I got $100 for my tow hitch on CL.
