Motor swap

Hey Guys I am new here. I bought an 86 4Runner knowing the motor was bad. I am stuck between the 4.3 swap and a complete performance rebuild on the 22re including crank, can, pistons, efi, heads. Has anyone built the 22re like this. Seems everyone wants to swap. I want to keep it pure Toyota. It's sitting on 38s right now with 5:29. Gonna lower it to 5 inch suspension with 36s. It will not be a daily driver but will have to drive it to the trail heads. Thoughts?

5" of lift won't clear 36s. 35s barely.

Red face

The reason we all swap is more horse power for the $$$$

22R Series engines are so very expensive per horse power gained

Since these Engines build power in the head head work is a given

Breathing and exhaust .

far cheaper to just go to a larger engine. Build a 200 Hp 22R series or have more with a 3.4 swap.

By all means if you want to and have the budget to build a High Horsepower 22R go for it.
